Usually surgeries of the nasal septum are avoided till the age of 18 yrs...having said that if your son is experiencing severe symptoms of nasal blockage alongwith difficulty in breathing at night while sleeping...there is no harm in going ahead with the surgery.
Next Steps
1) Kindly get your son checked by an ENT    specialist 2) Get investigations done.
Health Tips
Avoid prolonged usage of over the counter drops containing oxymetazoline/xylometazoline.

If his septum is significantly deviated and medical treatment hasn’t provided relief, septoplasty is a reasonable next step. It can improve nasal airflow, reduce rhinitis symptoms and enhance your overall quality of life. I’d recommend a thorough nasal endoscopy and imaging if needed to confirm the extent and plan appropriately.

Septoplasty can be considered at an early age if child has snoring or severe nasal blockage causing mouth breathing.
