Suffering from depression
My father is going through depression for about 10 days. We have taken him to a psychiatric doctor. He is under medication and taking - XET CR PLUS 12.5mg, QUETALENT 50mg, ENTINAP 0.5mg one pill at night. He has taken these medicines for 6 days out of 10. My father is also suffering from diabetes. He was in a habit of smoking and drinking but now he has stopped drinking but still smokes about 8-10 cigarettes a day. He is depressed about his children's marriage and other problems. Please tell me that how long will the depression get over. My father often gets more irritated in afternoon.

Generally the antidepressant takes 3-6 weeks to kick in. In the mean time, the focus is on symptomatic treatment. In your case, ask your doctor to add some mild relaxant in the daytime to take care of the problem of irritability
