What is Acceptance? Acceptance, in terms of mental health, is when you simple allow your emotions and thoughts to be. You don't judge them or label them as "bad" or "negative". Sometimes, with anxiety, you might feel a tightness in your chest and you would normally describe that as "painful" instead, try to explain how it feels like "heavy". What is Mindfulness? Mindfulness and acceptance go hand in hand in many ways. Mindfulness is used to stay in the moment so that you can observe those anxious feelings. “I am noticing that I feel anxious(mindfulness). I don't have to like it but I accept that it is there.(acceptance). 2 Things to Try: One issue that comes up with anxiety is spiraling thoughts. When your thoughts start to get out of control and just keep rolling and getting bigger and bigger and scarier, it pulls you out of the present moment (mindfulness). Instead of letting your thoughts spiral, try this: Tell yourself (or your partner or friend), “I’m really stressed about money right now. But I can’t do anything about it over the weekend or until I can sit down with my budget later. I’m going to put these thoughts away until I can focus on it and figure it out." When you are experiencing anxiety, pause for a moment and instead of focusing on the tightening in your chest, the racing thoughts etc...pay attention to your senses. What can you smell right now? What are you hearing? What are you touching? Don't judge anything, just feel it and it can help ground you in the here and now. These techniques might seem simple but they do work. And they do take practice.

Hello, Happy New Year. I understand those 5-10 mins can be quite overwhelming. These are due to underlying stress and could be due to fear. The good news is, it can be easily managed by therapy and counseling. Try to do deep breathing during that time and if possible you can start to walk around a little to distribute that energy. Connect for counseling. Happy Healthy Living to you!

Hi You get sudden anxiety which leads to breathlessness. It sounds like you are anxious and you are having negative thoughts. It is necessary to identify what are the possible reasons for feeling anxious. You have been feeling extremely anxious since two months. It is necessary to identify what is triggering anxiety. Since you are having anxiety that leads to breathlessness I suggest you consult a psychiatrist and explain about your symptoms. A psychiatrist will guide you about whether you require medication. I would also suggest that you consult a psychologist for counselling sessions. With a psychologist you can talk about what could be making you feel anxious. You can talk about what is triggering thoughts of being in danger. You can also talk about your lifestyle and relationship with family. Do consult a psychiatrist and psychologist. It will help you feel better. It is important to remember that with the guidance of a mental health professional you will feel better.
Next Steps
Consult a psychiatrist and psychologist.

Hi... It seems you are suffering from panic attacks. You need to consult a Psychiatrist and a Psychologist. If the frequency and intensity of these panic/anxiety attacks is high, a combination of medication and psychotherapy will be required. If it is low than psychotherapy/counselling alone will be able to help you overcome your presenting issues. Typically, these panic/anxiety attacks are more like symptoms of some underlying issues and not the problem in itself. Once those repressed issues get addressed during the course of therapy, these symptoms simply wither away.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychologist. CBT along with Lifestyle Changes and Interpersonal Guidance and Counselling is required.
