Diabetes is not the reason of spondylitis but diabetes take some extra time to get recovered. You should consult a physiotherapist for treatment and stretching as well as strengthening exercises.he will surely get the relief. Precaution like -no driving/travelling,no manual exertion, no weightlifting, posture correction(sit tall), avoid prolonged sitting or neck bending,no cold exposure, use of a firm roll below neck while lying....and Get an X-ray done for better assessment(as sometimes accidents lead to some bony problems)

Dear friend Please visit a good orthopedic doctor and do all the necessary investigations to get to the diagnosis. Don't do anything without proper investigation like x-ray etc.

Consult a orthopaedic doctor. Your saying that the pain is from a fall since 1 year. So you need to diagnose by taking an x-ray. Avoid placing pillow instead of that use cervical pillow or a towel roll under the neck. Sit straight in a comfortable chair or a sofa. Watch TV or a computer by maintaining good posture. Diabetes is not reason for his neck pain. After diagnosing orthopaedic doctor advice for the treatment. Consult a physiotherapist if it is surely spondylitis - traction can be done, neck exercises both isotonic and isometric you can find it in Internet.

With physiotherapy treatment your Father will get all right! The pain may or may not be because of an older accident. But there may be other reasons too, like cervical spondilytis or any other. With proper diagnosis and physiotherapy management he will be pain free!
