Hey there! I understand how difficult it must be for you to deal with migraine and lack of sleep. While migraine and sleeping patterns can often be linked, it is better to consult a doctor for definitive answers. Having an unstructured sleep pattern can often lead to headaches. Sleeping for more than 8 hours a day also has similar effects. If you consulted a doctor and if your sleep cycles are still not working for you, please consult a therapist. A therapist is a mental health professional who would be able to look into your concerns in detail and would be able to guide you to deal with them better.
In the meanwhile here are a few steps you can take to improve your sleep at night:
Go to bed, only when you are ready to sleep - Refrain from doing activities on the bed such as watching television or reading.
Refrain from sleeping on the couch or on your armchair. Make sure that you always sleep on your bed.
Go to bed and wake up around the same time everyday.
Make sure that your bedroom is the right temperature. If it is too cold or too warm, it would interfere with your sleep patterns.
Make sure to not drink a lot of fluids at night so that you won't have to wake up to use the bathroom and so that you have a good nightâs sleep.
Do not have caffeine or alcohol at night as it tends to keep you awake for longer periods of time.
Donât worry! You have got this!
