It sounds like your body has become dependent on sleep medication, and when the dosage is reduced, your brain’s natural sleep rhythm starts to adjust — that’s why you’re experiencing bursts of thoughts, dreams, and headaches. These are common signs when the body is readapting. Please don’t stop or reduce the medicine suddenly without medical advice. Along with your doctor’s guidance, counseling sessions can help you manage these thoughts, reduce dependency, and improve natural sleep through relaxation and cognitive techniques. If you’d like, we can connect for an online session to explore your sleep patterns, stress levels, and create a personalized plan for better emotional and sleep health.

Do not stop or reduce the medication on your own. The tapering schedule must be designed by your psychiatrist. Discuss safer long-term sleep aids such as non-habit-forming agents or cognitive-behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). Maintain good sleep hygiene: fixed bedtime, no screens 1 h before bed, avoid caffeine after noon, and regular exercise. If intrusive thoughts or abnormal dreams continue despite stable dosing, let your doctor know — sometimes an underlying anxiety or depressive disorder needs separate treatment.

Please make a note of your dreams for at least 15 days and consult a psychologist with specialization on dream analysis. Additionally, involve yourself in the evening walk or hit the gym. Make yourself physically tired while you go to bed. Avoid screen time at bed. You can play trance music to induce sleep in a pleasant mild sound.

Please consult your doctor regarding dosage. Regarding the dreams, it's not irrelevant and dreams don't come without any subconscious thoughts. You make consult for therapy.
Next Steps
You haven't written about exact cause of your sleep medicine, is there any physical issues or chronic stress? Please consult with your prescription for therapy. Don't regulate your medication without physician's consultation.
