Yes melatonin is hormone which is secreted inside the body when you are going to bed and lights are dim
But please dont go for supplements
Drink milk in the night it helps in secreting hormone
Rose tea you can have
Dry fruits you can have
Do meditation in the night before sleep
Listen music

Insufficient sleep is associated with increased calories consumption,poor dietary habits and less physical activity.
Do proper balanced diet & 45 minutes walking and enough water intake.
Before bed to enhance sleep quality some foods added in diet:
Almond
Chamomile tea
Kiwi
Fatty fish
Walnut
Passionflower tea

Anything as supplement, whenever you take has to have a reason.
Your age, weight, what is your profession, do you play amt sport, what is your exercise schedule ?
Since when are you having issues with your sleep?
