I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem about three years ago, and I was prescribed 25 mcg of medication. However, due to my carelessness, I have been taking the medicine irregularly and stopped taking it completely about 8–9 months ago.
I had my thyroid levels checked again three months ago, and they were within the normal range even without medication. This is my current report. Could you please tell me whether I should restart the medication or not?

This is a very reasonable question. If your TSH, T3 and T4 are normal three months after stopping the tablet, then you do not need to restart Thyroxine 25 mcg right now. A small dose like 25 mcg is often started for mild subclinical hypothyroidism, and in many people, especially after weight change or a temporary thyroiditis, the gland recovers and the levels stay normal without medicine. What is important is follow up rather than restarting blindly. Please get TSH with free T4 repeated after 3 months and then every 6 months, and also get anti TPO antibody done once, because if it is positive there is a higher chance of hypothyroidism returning later and you will need closer monitoring. Do get tested earlier if you develop tiredness, weight gain, cold intolerance, constipation, dry skin, hair fall, irregular or heavy periods, or swelling of the face and feet. Also, please plan a TSH test before conception or as soon as you plan pregnancy, since the requirement changes then and untreated hypothyroidism in pregnancy is important to avoid. Kindly do not restart or stop thyroid medicine on your own in future. You may consult me here (fee Rs 500) with your reports if you want a detailed review.
Current values are within range, so don’t restart levothyroxine without assessment reviewing the history
please book a consultation to decide appropriately.
