I am a 20-year-old female having sharp ear pain. It started in one ear and now both ears are painful. The pain is sharp and increases when I touch the ear or chew. I also have mild dizziness but no difficulty in walking. I have had similar ear infections before, including last year and in childhood. There is no discharge at present. I am not using any ear drops or home remedies. Please advise on possible cause and treatment and whether urgent ENT examination is needed.

Ear pain that increases on touching or chewing can be due to causes like outer ear inflammation or jaw (TMJ)–related pain, which cannot be confirmed without examination. For now, avoid inserting anything into the ear, avoid excessive chewing/headphone use, and take simple pain relief if tolerated. If pain worsens, dizziness increases, fever or ear discharge develops, hearing reduces, or symptoms persist beyond 24–48 hours, please seek an ENT consultation for proper ear and jaw examination

Hi, it looks like you have TM joint arthralgia, you can try taking soft foods, if there is any prior history of cold/ sore throat/ fever, have an ent consultation
As of now don’t use any ear drops, make sure no water enters your ear
Your symptoms seem like an acute otitis media, it could be due to any throat infection or viral infection that can spread to the ear (any recent history of cold cough or fever?)
Since the pain is more in chewing swallowing or touching
The ear drum might be bulged/swollen
For pain you can take a dolo 650 as of now
Next Steps
Visit the doctor so that you can be examined properly and started on antibiotics if required
