Seeking help for Emergency contraception
Dear Doctor, my partner(age 22, weight :40 kgs) and I are concerned about a recent non-penetrative sexual encounter (fingering only, with ejaculation occurring outside the body, approximately 24 hours ago on August 25, 2025). She is a virgin with no prior penetrative sex. I noticed sticky vaginal fluid, likely natural lubrication. Her next period is expected around September 14, 2025, with ovulation estimated around August 30, 2025. Given the extremely low pregnancy risk, is it necessary for her to take an emergency contraceptive like i-Pill, or would a home pregnancy test (e.g., Prega News) around September 9 or 14, 2025, suffice for confirmation? Additionally, is there a reliable method to check for sperm presence in the vagina at this stage, or is it unnecessary given the circumstances? We want to avoid unnecessary hormonal side effects and seek guidance on whether a gynecological visit is warranted or if monitoring her period and testing later is sufficient. Thank you.
