Pain does go away in most patients. But there are chances it may increase if there is movement which increases the pressure in your spine. So it is better to wait till acute phase of pain decreases. Then begin with light exercises.
Next Steps
lumbar extension exercises are better for your problem but if any of the exercises increases your symptom..must stop them..

Hello. As per your reports you have lower lumbar disc pathology. Your BMI 24.9 is also on the higher side of the normal level for which you are trying to reduce weight is good. But you need to perform weight reduction without stressing much on the lower back.
Next Steps
I suggest you try weight reduction by dieting consulting a nutrition. Avoid jumping and bending activities as of now . Suggest you to perform water exercises which would not be stressful for your joints and back. Weight loss may benefit your pain experience.
