I understand your concern. It is however unclear what you mean by schizophrenic symptoms. If you are talking about delusions or hallucinations Yes, severe thyroid abnormality can ofcourse cause them. It was called as myxedema madness. However it is easily manageable with appropriate treatment. Some counselling sessions along with medical help also might be useful.
