Dear sir, It's a reassuring news that your beloved mother has shown good improvement under medication. In psychotic spectrum disorders, especially one such as Schizophrenia, the good news is that late onset disorders have good prognosis as in u're case. At the same time, the usual course of any medication in Schizophrenia is dependent on how many episodes there has been. If it's just first episode and she has now started recovering, u're psychiatrist will plan a slow and sequential reduction of dose with a sufficient period in between to observe for any relapse. But in case of multiple episodes, then it is medically recommended to continue a minimally effective and tolerable dose.
