Schezophernia treatment
Hi,
My mother is undergoing schezophernia trearment from past 2 years, with medication i see he is emotionally in control but whenever medicine is stopped the symptoms of scezophernia comes back.
I have queries How long we have to give her medicine to cure her completely?
These medicine (Alkepin) are inducing sleep and acidity. How do we take care of this

As per international guidelines first episode of Schizophrenia should be treated for at least 2 years and if symptoms recur it should be treated for at least 5 years and if still symptoms recur after stopping treatment then it requires lifelong treatment. Side effects can be managed with careful medication selection and their doses as per person's tolerance and effects.
