Hi, I Dr Atul Kumar Nimawat MS ENT Basically causes of tinnitus are:- 1. Otologic Causes: • Noise-induced hearing loss • Presbycusis (age-related hearing loss) • Otosclerosis • Cerumen impaction • Meniere’s disease • Chronic otitis media • Sudden sensorineural hearing loss 2. Neurologic Causes: • Acoustic neuroma (vestibular schwannoma) • Multiple sclerosis • Head trauma 3. Ototoxic Drugs: • Aminoglycosides (e.g., gentamicin) • Loop diuretics (e.g., furosemide) • Salicylates (e.g., aspirin) • Chemotherapy agents (e.g., cisplatin) 4. Vascular Causes: • Arteriovenous malformations • Carotid artery stenosis • Glomus tumors (glomus jugulare or tympanicum) • Hypertension (especially if pulsatile tinnitus) 5. Musculoskeletal Causes: • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction • Cervical spine disorders 6. Psychological Factors: • Anxiety • Depression • Stress 7. Others: • Eustachian tube dysfunction • Anemia • Thyroid disorders
