70-74 bpm is a very healthy count.
If it’s happening to you only when you’re awake - it can be because of anxiety, overthinking, stress or due to physical activity.
It can be a watch defect.
Increased heart rate need not be associated with palpitations.
Next Steps
See a general physician or a psychiatrist
Take deep slow breaths when your heart rate is up
Try box breathing : inhale deeply for 7 seconds, hold breath for 7 seconds, exhale for 7 seconds, don’t inhale for another 7 seconds
This stabilizes your heart rate
Meditation helps too.

It could be due to watch defect or anxiety, post meal and exercise too. If your resting heart rate is within 60-100 then it should be fine. But for being on safer side you can get an ecg done

Hello, occasional rise in heartbeats in young adults is okay. Also with a watch reliability is not 100%. Sometimes there can be high readings because of movements. Nothing to worry about as of now, especially since there are no symptoms.
Your average (70–75 bpm) and minimum heart rate (52–60 bpm) during sleep are normal, especially in young adults. Brief spikes shown by smartwatches during sleep are commonly due to movement, position change, or sensor error, not true arrhythmia—especially since you have no symptoms like palpitations or sleep disturbance.
Can consult me if you don’t have problems with that
Next Steps
• No immediate treatment needed.
• If concerned, you may do a 24-hour Holter ECG for reassurance.
• Continue regular activity and good sleep habits.
Health Tips
• Avoid checking heart rate repeatedly at night (can increase anxiety).
• Seek medical care if you develop palpitations, dizziness, chest pain, fainting, or breathlessness.
