It is 6 weeks after surgery. Some discharge may come out till wound ie fistula heals.
Pain usually has nothing do with recurrence.
This is too early to comment about recurrence. See what your treating surgeon has to say.
Next Steps
Or you may take expert second opinion.
Health Tips
Avoid sitting in lukewarm water if you are sitting right now.

You need a clinical evaluation to rule out recurrence of fistula .if suspicion arise you need to do an MRI perineum and proceed accordingly. Meanwhile you need to take oral antibiotics analgesics for symptomatic relief and local ointment application. Avoid constipation and straining for stools
laser fistula tends to cause pain after surgery for 2 to 4 weeks.
you need to clarify
1. has the wound below healed?
2. do you have pain when u pass stool?
3. any swelling in surrounding?
4. how regular did you use sitz bath?
5. any fever?
Laser surgery is not 100% cure, it has it’s own problem. I think fistula has blocked. I suggest to get MRI anus and show the reports to me at my hospital at the earliest. Don’t think you should wait and watch, please don’t use any pain killers, as it can cause kidney problems.
Next Steps
MRI or USG to know how the track is formed, so that he can undergo fistulectomy at the earliest.
