Citalin 10 mg (which contains citalopram) belongs to the SSRI group of antidepressants. Medicines from this group can sometimes cause temporary sexual side effects, such as:
• Delayed orgasm
• Reduced sexual pleasure
• Slight decrease in libido
Even one dose can occasionally make some people feel this change because SSRIs influence serotonin levels, which can affect sexual response.
However, in most cases:
✔ These effects are temporary
✔ The body usually adjusts within a few days to a couple of weeks
✔ If you have taken only one tablet, the effect should gradually wear off
What you can do:
• Do not panic — this is a known and reversible effect
• Wait for a few days and observe
• Avoid repeatedly testing through masturbation as anxiety can worsen the perception
• If symptoms continue for more than 1–2 weeks, consult the prescribing doctor
Also remember that depression itself can reduce libido and sexual pleasure, so sometimes the symptom may not be due to the medicine alone.
