Rectal Cancer stage and curable chances
My grand father is 70 yr old, biopsy-proven adenocarcinoma upper rectum. CT shows mesorectal + pre-aortic/aortocaval lymph nodes (necrotic). No liver/lung mets. Please clarify stage (III vs IV) and whether curative treatment is possible. And please suggest ,best treatment procedure for better outcome.

Needs to see the surgical oncologist like me , who will assess and suggest whether chemo radiation or surgery is required. Whole body pet ct scan may help in differentiating a stage 3 or 4 with surgery or biopsy
