A longterm option would be a good treatment, in your case do consider RCT for that molar. Its better not be judgemental on whatever that is shown on the x-ray. Its an obsolete technique to predict the outcome of a treatment. I would suggest that implant be considered as a lost option. Its better to salvage that tooth rather than look at replacement.

X ray shows clear infection at the apex of your tooth. Also this tooth has lot of its structure damaged. So RCT and cap will not last long. So better to extract and do implant which will stay for longer or lifetime. Take care. Hope u decide the rt thing to do.

Well xray alone can't predict the treatment plan..without the clinical examination root canal therapy cannot be ruled out..if the clinical health of tooth is good you can go for root canal...get a thorough examination done...

Hello good morning The X-ray shows lot of infection due to which there is huge amount of bone loss associated with it. Doing root canal won't be saving this tooth. It's better to extract and go for an implant or bridge.

Hi , The xray explains everything. There is too much bone loss due to infection and apparently you have pus formation and facial swelling too.According to me it's ideal to get rid of the tooth wait for the socket to heal and go for an implant .Doing a root canal on this tooth has very dim chances for success. So extract the tooth and go for implant.Hope.this helps. All the best.
