Radiofrequency ablation
Is radiofrequency ablation for varicose veins safe. My father-in-law is 70 yrs is a case of bilateral lower varicose veins planned for right lower limb radio frequency ablation with foam sclerotherapy+/- perforator ligation. My question is if the above treatment safe and ensure full recovery for 70 yrs old patient. Kindly advise.

Yes safer than open procedures .. but as such the anaesthesia and surgery stress can have some side effects... around 2 to 4 percent chance he would have a cardiac arrest! (Compared to less than 1 percent for young people)
