Since you are already on post-exposure rabies vaccination and have taken Day 0 and Day 3 doses, there is no need for any additional booster for this bite—just continue the remaining doses as per schedule (Day 7, Day 14, and Day 28 if advised
Next Steps
just continue the remaining doses as per schedule

Since you were already taking a full rabies vaccine course and the bite happened during the ongoing schedule, no extra booster or restart is needed. Medical logic: • You have active vaccine-induced protection building in your body • A bite occurring between doses is considered covered as long as: • You continue and complete the remaining scheduled doses on time • Extra doses do not increase protection and are not recommended So, you are safe, provided the remaining doses are taken as scheduled.
Next Steps
1. Immediate wound care (very important): • Wash the bite area thoroughly with soap and running water for 15 minutes • Apply povidone-iodine or antiseptic 2. Vaccination: • Continue the remaining doses exactly as per schedule • Do NOT add extra booster doses 3. Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG): • Needed only if this is a Category III bite AND you were NOT previously vaccinated • Since you are already vaccinated and mid-course → RIG is NOT required 4. Consult a doctor urgently only if: • You miss doses • Wound becomes infected (pus, redness spreading, fever)
Health Tips
• Do not panic — mid-course bites are well covered • Do not change or reset the vaccine schedule • Avoid internet myths about “extra safety doses” • Observe the dog if possible (10 days), but do not delay vaccines for observation • Keep vaccine dates documented This situation is very common, and medical guidelines are clear: continuing your current vaccine course is enough. You are already doing the right thing. Finish the schedule confidently — there is no added danger here. If you want, you can tell me: • Which day/dose you are on (Day 0, 3, 7, etc.) • Whether the bite broke skin or bled I can then double-confirm everything for your exact case and give you complete peace of mind.

No you don’t need any booster dose if the tear is mild. If grade 2 i.e skin is still intact. these vaccines will cover. If grade 3 i.e deep bite marks then you will need immunoglobulins too.
