Rabies Vaccine and Exposure
Im already taking rabies vaccine
My 4th dose is due on 27th august
Today what happened i was outside suddenly one dog came and got touched with my index finger
I got so worried
Im not sure what exactly my finger touched is it his fur/mouth/what?
Did he bite or his saliva touched what happened im confused
I saw after that in my thumb i saw one small mark it looks like hangnail types not sure .
When im touching that it stings little bit
Is it risky if his saliva touched that small dot below my thumb
Im not sure when that dot happened
Im i risky? Any other vaccine dose needed

Please relax, you are in a very safe position. You are already in the middle of a rabies vaccine course, so your body is producing antibodies and you are protected against exactly this kind of doubtful contact. Touching a dog's fur is not an exposure at all, rabies does not spread through intact skin or fur. Even if a little saliva touched the skin near your thumb, saliva on unbroken skin carries no risk. A hangnail type mark that stings on touch is usually just dry skin or a small tear, not a bite, and there was no bleeding or visible bite mark. So no extra dose is required for today's incident, simply continue your ongoing schedule and take your 4th dose on 27th August as planned. Do wash that thumb area with soap and running water and apply an antiseptic for reassurance. If in future a dog bites and breaks the skin after your course is complete, you would only need two booster doses on day 0 and day 3, no immunoglobulin. Try not to keep replaying the incident, that anxiety is far more troublesome than the actual risk here. In this case wound or bite site should we washed under running tape water for 15minutes and use shop also ,As you have already in Post Exposure Vaccination Days No Need of Further Vaccination till 3 months.
