Rabies vaccine
I have completed my 5 dose anti-rabies vaccination by 10 June this year only, and 10 days back I got bit by street dog it was a small scratch few drops of blood. I thought I already have anti bodies but due to anxiety I am overthinking the situation. So my question is should I take the whole 5 dose anti-rabies vaccine again?

You have completed a full 5-dose anti-rabies vaccination course recently (in June), which means your body already has strong protective antibodies. If a previously vaccinated person gets re-exposed within 3 years, only 2 booster doses (on Day 0 and Day 3) are required — no need for the full 5-dose schedule again and no need for RIG. So, you’re well protected, and taking just 2 boosters is enough if not already taken. But since you’re feeling anxious, it’s best to discuss your exact dates and exposure type once — I’ll guide you clearly and remove all doubts. You can message me directly on WhatsApp at nine three two six zero two zero five nine six for personalized advice and reassurance.

Since you completed your full 5-dose anti-rabies vaccination in June, your body already has strong protective antibodies. If you get another dog bite or scratch within 6–12 months of completing that series, you do not need all 5 doses again. Only 2 booster doses are recommended — one on Day 0 (the day of exposure) and another on Day 3. You are already protected, so there’s no need to restart the full schedule. The extra doses won’t harm you but are unnecessary. Your anxiety is understandable, but rest assured — your immunity from the June vaccination is still active and protective. ⸻ Regards, Dr. Sujit Bandaru, MBBS, MD (General Medicine) General Physician | Reg.
