I've seen similar case in my clinical practice. There is almost nothing to worry in this scenario, since
(1) there is no route of transmission - the skin is intact
(2) usual incubation period is well passed (ie 3 months), even though very rare cases of symptoms seen beyond the above period
Next Steps
You may still take rabies vaccines under a schedule, for added protection, and also to keep safe in future exposures

Nothing to worry
Since no cut in his hands chance of getting infected is very less
And also 8 months have passed and he haven't showed any symptoms I guess
Even if he had put his hands in mouth the infective organisms are not transferred through feco-oral route
Which means he is fine and the chances of rabies infection in future is nearly zero
Next Steps
Just relax and eat healthy

If his skin was intact and there was no contact of saliva with his eyes, mouth, or an open wound, rabies transmission is virtually impossible.
• Since it’s already 8 months and he’s completely fine, that alone is reassuring — rabies would have manifested by now if transmission had occurred.
• Even if he had unknowingly touched his mouth or eyes after contact with fur or dry saliva, the virus dies quickly outside the body so infection is extremely unlikely.
