Rabies immunoglobulin without exposure

Asked for Female, 14 Years

Forced by my sister to get 2 rabies vaccination and 4 rabies immunoglobulin on the same day. I got scratched by our house cat. The scratch produced blood but I don't think it was serious. I definitely was sure that it wouldn't give me rabies. Our cat is obviously not rabid. What would happen if you get rabies immunoglobulin shots without exposure?

Hello there. I can understand your concern. I don't understand why anyone would give 2 rabies vaccination? Your pet might not be having rabies but still it's better to be vaccinated. But why 2 vaccines on the same day? You will have to take the whole course I hope you know that. Or else the vaccine is practically waste. Best regards. Dr. Anil Kumar Jain. Bangalore.
