QUERY REGARDING RABIES VACCINATION
I was administered with rabies vaccine with all 5 doses (Rabipur) 1.5 yrs back. Now for how long will this rabies immunity work in my body and if I am exposed to an animal bite within 2yrs from the day of vaccination should I have to get re-vaccinated ? Plz clear my doubt as a flying bat hit my eye today badly and I have heard that bats contain rabies but I have already been vaccinated against rabies in Oct 2018. Do I need to get re-vaccinated ? Pls answer deeply.

AS YOU HAVE MENTIONED THAT YOU TOOK RABIES VACCINE A YEAR AND HALF BACK YOU ARE STILL PROTECTED , MANY LITERATURE SUGGEST THAT ONE GETS IMMUNE FOR 10 YEARS FROM LAST DOSE , SO YOU WELL WITHIN THAT FRAME , SO NEED NO VACCINATION FOR RABIES BUT NEED AN EYE CHECK UP FOR ANY DEEP INJURY IN CASE

U have to take 2 dosage of rabies vaccine intramuscular. Any person who is previously immunized more than 3 months should take 2 dosage of rabies vaccine on 0 & 3 days Bat doesn't carry rabies virus but bats have been found to be sero positive for anti-rabies antibodies in North East of India. Hence, depending on the nature and circumstances of exposure to bats, Rabies vaccine may be given in individual cases on merit.
