QUERY REGARDING HYPOTHYROIDISM

Asked for Male, 26 Years

I am suffering from sub clinical hypothyroidism and when I go to my doctor he always keeps a finger of my throat and asks me to swallow water or spit ? Why does he does so ? Does hypothyroidism cause pain in throat and trouble in swallowing ?

Hi, Feeling with fingers for any abnormalities in thyroid structure becomes easier and quicker when thyroid gland moves durig the action of swallowing. Hypothyroidism in most cases does not cause throat pain or difficulty in swallowing. In some cases inflammation in thyroid may produce these symptoms till it gets resolved Thanks
