Query regarding D Dimer
Post covid, Father's d dimer came out to be 1800 (report came 5days after sample collection), and he had no clot symptoms so we consulted doctor, he advised blood thinners. However we did the test again from a better lab after two days, it came out to be 160. In these two days, he had blood thinner dabigatran 150 BD. On doc's advise, after 15 days, we again tested him, the d dimer is 180. Now we are planning to stop the medication. My question is: Will a blood thinner alter his reports this much, ie from 1800 to 160? Or we can safely stop medication by discarding the first report as faulty?

Nope blood thinner won't affect.. Body has mechanism to dissolve the clot... You can safely stop the  medicine..

We cannot rule out the possibility of lab error. Better to check it again after stopping the drug.
