Quantity of formula feed per day
Hi doctor, my daughter is 5 and half months old. I started solids 2 times a day at 5 months as per my paediatrician. After starting solids she is not drinking milk. Ideally how much quantity of formula milk should be given per day as she is not even drinking 300ml per day. Her weight is 6.3kgs and birth weight is 3.1kgs

Hello, good to connect with you today Your baby’s weight gain has been appropriate for age The reason for drinking less milk might be because of the amount of solids that you are giving might be more You can make following changes 1. Start the day with milk, give for 5-6 feedings of milk per day 2. Prefer solids once a day, ideally in afternoon 3. When giving solids, feed just as much as baby takes, don’t force feed the baby The first month of solid food is all about introducing baby to different tastes and textures and getting them used to act of feeding I advise breastfeeding atleast till 1 year of baby; breast milk is best milk and breastfeeding is best type of feeding Also for solids, prefer home prepared mix rather than commercially available. You can easily get the recipe online
