Hi, I had a open wound excision for Pilonidal Sinus about 4 months back. I got a Pus Culture test today which said "culture yields no growth after 48 hours of incubation". Does it mean that my wound is okay and infection is not a concern?

Pus culture can be negative if you are already taking antibiotics culture report should always be send before starting any antibiotics.

If there is a discharge through an opening in the operated area; it shows some underlying sinus left behind. Incidences of recurrence of Pilonidal Sinus after surgery are very high. In your case it appears to be a case of recurrence of Pilonidal Sinus. However in Ayurveda Ksharsutra treatment is advised for Pilonidal Sinus. This is an OPD procedure. No hospitalization or bed rest is required during this treatment. Patient can continue his normal routine activities as usual during this treatment.
