Pulse rate is down 51
Hello docs This is about my father health condition his pulse rate is around 50- 53 for last 3 days and BP Is on little down side which is around 100/70. He chew tobacco regularly bane for last 2 days he is not having it and now he is afraid that his pulse is down becoz of not having tobacco. Now he is insisting me to allow to eat tobacco again. He has been eating it for last 15 years. Pls advise about this pulse issue.

Hi sir low pluse (bradicardia),it very common in tobacco chewing people, nothing to worry

Your father may be right to some extent. Tobacco increases pulse rate temporarily. After quitting tobacco, he has regained his original pulse rate which is low. We have to search for the cause of the low pulse rate but tobacco chewing is not the treatment even it may cause serious adverse effects.

This condition is bradycardia, Might be due to any adverse effect. Don't give him tobacco.
