AP diameter of the renal pelvis in transverse plane is 14mm Cortical thickness is mildly reduced (6-7mm) andechogenicity is grade-0] No evidence of calculus of mass is seen Right kidney : measures about 4.2X1.8 cm in size and appears normal in size, shapes, position and echopattern. Cortical thickness is normal and echogenicity is grade-0, with normally preserved cortico-mdeullary differentiation. No evidence of calculus, mass or hydronephrosis is seen. plz suggest me for treatment. surgery is necessary or not.

Hi thanks for writing to Practo consult. Any newborn baby diagnosed of PUj obstruction needs to undergo some tests they are Ultrasound of kidney. Urine RM and CS MCU (depending  on evaluation of pediatric surgeon) DMSA scan. If all these are already done and DMSA is showing kidney function compromise, its entirely pediatric surgeons decision when to take for surgery. And surgery and follow up are only treatment modules available. Please do not go for any alternative treatment line, you will loose the golden time at your hand.
