Problem with language
My son is about 21 months old. He is not speaking so far. Used to say few words and not calling Amma Appa usually. We are staying alone and does not get chance to play with other kids. How can we encourage him to talk? And is this is an autism symptom?

Normally, children have a 3 meaningful word vocabulary at 1 year, can make 3 word sentences at 2 years and full, may be lisping speech at 3 years. BUT,this has a lot of variation. Speech development incorporates normal hearing, brain function and normal speech apparatus. If he doesn't speak a single meaningful word, the first step is to rule out any hearing defect. Plz consult your paediatrician for detailed information.
