Problem related left hand wrist fracture
Hi Iam Yeshwanth .My father met with an accident 3 days back. His left hand wrist area was swollen and we taken X- ray and consulted a famous orthopaedic M.D. By looking into X- ray he said that requires operation and I asked him to go with POP initially later if it is not ok we will go with operation. He diagnosed with POP initially and asked for check X- Ray and after showing it he said it will be good if we go for operation because 80% it will be recover after 45 days with this POP Patti. He said be ready for operation he will join using stainless steel material. My question is 1. Is operation necessary? 2. If necessary when should we need to go for? 3. Without operation it won't be recover? 4. What about POP Patti it won't cure fracture? 5. If operation is needed what will the cost of operation. My friends suggested to consult other orthopedicians and take their opinion before going further. Please suggest me what to do next? I am attaching check X-ray and 1st one for reference.

It’s a displaced intra articular fracture of distal radius. Any broken bone if kept immobilised would normally heal. But in this case the fracture involves the wrist joint and I would ideally recommend surgical fixation of the fracture to restore normal anatomy and function. The time to heal for the fracture would be the same.
