Hi. Im almost 16 weeks pregnant. My nose gets stuffy and blocked while sleeping at night so sometimes i use otrivin. Is using otrivin safe during pregnancy?

Nasal stuffiness in pregnancy is very common (pregnancy rhinitis). Otrivin should be avoided or used as little as possible — not more than 2-3 days at a stretch. A much safer option is saline nasal spray (like Nasoclear) which can be used freely. Also try steam inhalation and sleep with your head slightly elevated.

Yes it is safe but nasal congestion is common in pregnancy due to vasodilation Along with otrivin try steam inhalation

to be used only for minimum days (3-5 days ) not more than that . Try saline drops , steam inhalation . avoid dust , smoke areas and strong scents .
