Please let your psychiatrist know if you are planning to get pregnant/are pregnant - do not stop any medication abruptly and have a well-informed discussion with them. Monitoring is essential - while this medication is very regularly used it helps to keep your psychiatrist + gynaec both in the loop. But please remember: PPD is debilitating and often affects the mother-baby just as much. Also discuss with them your breastfeeding plans.

Any medication is not absolutely safe in pregnancy. Lamotrigene has relatively been considered to be safe however if the anxiety can be managed with therapy only, it’s better to avoid tablets.

Although Lamotrigine , which is primarily an anticonvulsant, is considered safer in comparison to other drugs used .As per data available, use of lamotrigine during pregnancy in not associated with an increased risk for fetal loss, prenatal growth restriction, or preterm . Consultation under Gynaecologist should still be taken for the fetal well being.
