Post Covid Fibrosis and Lung Cancer
My 67 yr mom who was a former smoker but later quit had serious covid with pneumonia and recovered in January 2021.. After that her first CT scan showed ground glass opacity.. After three months her second CT showed ground glass opacity and ? Koch's lesion. We were told she has post Covid fibrosis and didn't require any treatment as there was no breathing issues.. Just a mild dry cough.. Now that cough lasted a year and half but very mild.. So in June 2022 we did a xray showing abnormal and then CT showing lung mass 3cm in apical segment of rul, there is surrounding interlobular septal thickening with ground glass opacity and bronciatic changes.. In biopsy it came small cell carcinoma.. And in pet scan it came active.. My only question is did this cancer happened due to post covid fibrosis because the mass is surrounded by ground glass opacity? Or it has no relationship to this? Please I'm begging for correct answer.. (I'm not wasting time, treatment has started)
