Can anyone please tell what precautions can we take in order to prevent black or white fungus...how this can spread ...?

Preventive  method :- 1) Don't use steroids therapy with your own . 2) ask your doctor to decrease the dose of steroids therapy gradually ,if you feel well. 3) Patient on home oxygen therapy , kindly note that to change or use proper sterile water probably distilled water for humidifier . 4) Patient on steroids therapy must note that he / she might be using Antibiotics as long as steroids therapy is going on . 5) Patient with diabetic or autoimmune disorders or autoimmune disorders therapy must be aware of that and consult near by doctor . Fasting blood sugar - less than 140mg/dl PP blood sugar- less than 200mg/dl

It spread through spores via nasal route Preventive Measures: l. Personal hygienea. Good Oral hygiene 2. Medical Management a. Judicious use of steroids at right time, right dose and for right period. i. No steroids ifpatients are not hypoxic. ii. Avoid prescribing post-discharge Steroids b. Strict diabetes control (110-180mg%) with lnsulin and Oral HypoglycemicAgents. i. GRBS testing olevery hospitalized patient at least once a day to monitorBlood sugar levels. ii. Proper management of Diabetic Keto-Acidosis. 3. Hospital/lnstitutional level a. Use clean, sterile water for humidifiers during oxygen therapy b. Disinfecting all gadgets in ICU regularly. c. Not to reuse disposable oxygen delivery devices like Nasal prongs, Face masksetc. 4. Advice to the Patient and care giver at the time of discharge:a. Monitor blood glucose level in diabeticsb. Inform the patients about early symptoms & signs of Mucor: i. Nasal blockage/Blood-tinged nasal discharge ii. Pain in the eyelswelling ofthe eye/double vision iii. Hemi cranial head ache/headache/numbness over the face. iv. Tooth ache/loosening of teeth/discomfort during chewing.

Prevention-1 don’t use steroids without the prescriptions of doctors 2-pt on humidifier oxygen clean the water in it regularly 3-clean the room of pt regularly that is maintain proper hygiene 4-diabetic pt mantain the blood glucose level.
