Possible fracture in fifth metatarsal
I twisted my ankle while playing and x ray shows possible chip fracture in 5th metatarsal. It is hurting when I put pressure on it. Do I need to put a cast and how much time would it take to heal?

Fractures usually heal by 4-6 weeks. Smaller, non-weight bearing bones heal faster. Metatarsal is small but weight sharing nine. It better to put plaster as it will provide immobilisation for bone healing. A minimum of 4 weeks of plaster and immobilisation is advisable.
