My uncle is 62 years old and he is a case of IHD. He developed massive left sided pleural effusion. Now he is admitted in Railway hospital at Bhaikhala with ICD insitu. Daily there is 350-400mi output of pleural fluid which is yellowish with slight reddish tinge. Cytology for maligbnant cells is negative performed two times at TATA hospital. PET CT showed small extra pleural nodule measuring 11x7mm at the level of pulmonary confluence which needed histopathological correlation (SUV max is 4.3). Doctors at hospital had given course of Augmentin and Magself (Cefoperazone) but daily output is still 350-400ml. Biopsy is advised of the nodule. I want to ask if any other treatment option available.

Hi. I understand your concerns. He will need to undergo pleuroscopy and biopsy of the pleural nodules to get at a diagnosis. Better to get it done it done at earliest to get a diagnosis and start treatment accordingly. Consult a pulmonologist for the same.
