Phone addiction
Yesterday, I have told that I have identified my triggers. I'm thankful to the doctors on the app. Actually, along with hearing someone sick and googling things...I also have this phone addiction..I'm on my phone a most of the time which is also one of my major trigger. The work I'm doing also is associated with screen time. How to reduce this habit.

Actually every addiction is link to urges (for screen use )so there is choice to act on urges or not , if you decide not to act on your urge ( to use your screen) ,it would be not comfortable for you  . So overcoming addiction involve increase your tolerance level and decrease your intolerance level . Also do CBA ( COST BENEFITS ANALYSIS) of using mobile beyond limit. Set time limit for screen time.

Excessive use of phone is a form of addiction. It is also a behavioural problem. Acute use of smartphones can alter and negatively impact like any other addictive disorder. It can lead to low concentration, less sleep, Anxiety, cognition problems, stress, loneliness, insecurity and other psychological disorders. You need to consult with an experienced psychologist for therapy.

Hey! As you said you have work associated with screens. I suggest whenever you wake up do not start your day with a phone screen instead start your day with mindful activities It will help you to know yourself better. And help in healing your triggers.

Hi there, It is good to know that you were able to identify your triggers with the guidance of the therapists. Excessive usage of phones is definitely a challenge these days. You will have to be mindful of the amount of time you send on the phone. Things you can try are - Actively distract yourself from using it when not required. Engage in activities that you like and keep a fixed time to use the phone. Speak to a therapist who can help you formulate a plan and follow it through. Take care.

Hi. I would recommend not to google medical related issues as it might scare off people and might not be accurate too. It’s always better to seek professional help if you feel the need. Try and limit your phone usage only for work and anything important. When you are not working, leave your phone and take walks, or indulge in some kind of physical activity which will keep you away from your phone from sometime. And while in bed, try and keep your phone away from you distance wise and try reading books/newspaper etc (anything that’s interesting enough for you). Practice it consciously whenever you feel you are using your phone too much.

Hi.. Use different devices for your office work and personal life. Also, if possible do your office work from different room/place (study room/table). Do not use the place where you sleep, rest, or relax. It will help you keep your mind off work when you are not working. Also, any screen time more than 3-4 hours in a day (24 hrs) is unhealthy. If you are in a line of work (software engineer, etc.) where avoiding screen time is not possible. Than try giving your spare time to enjoy a physical activity under the sky. It may be anything, walking, jogging, running, skipping, swimming, badminton, any physical activity/sport. Also, if you facing mental health issues please consult a professional. Phone addiction, etc. are more a product of some underlying issues than an illness in itself. People often fall prey to such addiction as a mean to feel better with minimal effort. Be it phone/game/porn/even substances, the primary purpose they are serving is to provide quick relief with minimal effort. But in doing so they harm the individual in multiple ways, including deteriorating their health.
