My father is 77years old and suffering from persistent cough for past few weeks. He used to smoke until 2017. He quit after 40+ years of smoking. He however continues to chew tobacco

please visit a pulmonologist, because of his smoking he might have lungs weakened by it. A pulmonologist can check and order the test to find the cause for his cough
