Periods starting with spotting
My periods do not start with normal menstrual flow. I usually have spotting for 2–4 days before my actual period starts. After that, the spotting stops completely for a few days, and then my proper menstrual bleeding starts. This has been happening repeatedly. I would like to know whether this pattern is normal or if I need any tests or treatment. Please advise.

You needed ultrasound scan and blood test to know the reason.

Spotting for a few days before your period often happens because progesterone drops gradually instead of all at once. It's a common pattern and usually harmless on its own.
Next Steps
If this repeats every single cycle, ask your gynaecologist for a pelvic ultrasound and hormone panel to rule out other causes.
