Performance anxiety
Hello dr, I'm a professional tennis player and i have this strange mental conditions on court while playing in a tournament like whenever I'm playing a match in a tournament i get nervous and starts thinking about what will happen if i loose or how will i defeat my opponent, my breath shortens and my footwork goes away and I'm not confident while hitting the shots too much unforced errors and all the bizarre events eventually lead to loss. Whenever i play carrom with my sister I'm like ready to take the shot, i fold my fingers in and then i cannot open them to hit the striker my hand starts shivering and I don't know whether I'll pot the coin or not or whether it will go in the correct direction or not and when they open after a long time i misses the shot here also eventually loosing. Pls help me come up these bizarre situations they are costing me my career. Thank u.

Hello From the above mentioned symptoms it seems that your anticipations about the future actions is causing anxiety and thus affecting your performance. These are due to negative thinking causing anticipatory anxiety. Try deep breathing exercises and consult a clinical psychologist for proper diagnosis and treatment.
