Thumb sucking is a deep rooted habit because it is the only habit that the child can start developing in mother's womb only..... a multi directional approach needs to be followed when treating a patient with such a habit...... habit breaking appliances can be given which can be removable or fixed and can help to control this habit to a great extent.... but we also need to evaluate the psychological component of the child mentality which is making him/her addicted to the habit..... Regards.....

Kindly get your childs evaluation done first in order to get a picture of what needs to be done. A couple of things to be considered, does she have any other sibling(brother/sister), are both the parents working, many things needs to be addressed before we can assess why the child is doing thumb sucking. But first & foremost a check up is a must. Good luck to you..
