Breastfeeding >7 times daily after 12 months of age is associated with increased risk for cavity. Night time breast feeding, bottle feeding, repeated use of a sippy and frequent in between meal consumption of sugar-containing snacks or drinks (eg, juice, formula,) increase the risk of cavity.
Habits like thumb sucking, pacifier sucking may apply forces to teeth and develop malocclusion, thus these kind of habits if present has to be managed at the earliest.
can use GC Tooth Mousse paste for brushing (AVOID IF ALLERGIC TO MILK PROTIEN).
note: cavity not always looks black in color, it can appear as white spot lesions on the tooth surface, which should not be ignored and at this stage if you visit the dentist white spot lesion can be reversed and prevent it from progressing into a black colour cavity.

Ya, you can very well start brushing teeth... Use small soft brushes with any Kids tooth paste... Make sure after every meal or milk, you clean the teeth using wet cotton cloth. Clean babies gum pad also with Cotton cloth

any time in future , if you notice cavities get it filled as soon before it become bad and allow baby to play with the tooth brush while brushing, so that slowly baby will get practiced to use tooth brush
