PCOD and PCOS get used interchangeably, but they are not quite the same thing. PCOD means your ovaries are releasing more immature or partially mature eggs than usual, which is common and often settles with weight and lifestyle changes. PCOS is the more specific hormonal condition, where higher androgen levels disrupt ovulation itself, and it tends to affect periods, skin, weight and fertility together, often needing longer term management.
Next Steps
If your periods are irregular or you notice acne, weight gain or extra hair growth, a hormone panel and a pelvic ultrasound can show which pattern fits you.
Health Tips
Please see a gynaecologist to confirm which one applies to you, since PCOS needs ongoing monitoring beyond just your cycle.
