Hi.. Paroxetine as such is an enzyme inhibitor. So it can increase the effects of other medicines taken along with it.

First of all I want to know, the age of the patient. If age of patient is 4 years, paxil / paroxetine is not approved. It should be not given.
If age is 40 years, there are agents of same class can be considered. Paxil is a potent drug enzyme inhibitor, interferes with metabolism of other agents. This may sometime leads to side effects of other medications. Sertraline, belonging to same class can be considered instead.
