Hello Doctor, my 15-year-old child has had a light-colored patch on the cheek for about 1 month. It looks different from the surrounding skin and we are concerned about what may be causing it. Kindly advise what treatment can be started for the time being until we visit you, and whether this could be due to a skin condition, fungal infection, allergy, or pigmentation issue. Please let us know if any cream or care is recommended for now.
Light itching also.
Thank you.

• Most likely tinea faciei (fungal infection) rather than seborrheic dermatitis
• Features supporting this: well-defined light patch with mild scaling + itching
• Not typical of vitiligo (no scaling) and less likely simple pigmentation issue
Helpful tips / Words of caution
• Do NOT use steroid creams (can worsen fungal infection and change appearance)
• Keep area dry and clean
• Avoid sharing towels/pillows
• Wash face after sweating
• ⚠️ Mild lightening may persist temporarily even after cure (post-inflammatory hypopigmentation)
